Children’s drama festival in Ballari

Makkala Ranga Suggi 2015, a two-day children drama festival, will be held at Dr. Joladarashi Doddanagouda Rangamandir here from February 1 at 5.30 pm.

The festival is organised by Ranga Jangama, Grameenabhivridhi Samste of D. Kaggal village, and the Department of Kannada and Culture.

Annaji Krishna Reddy of the samsthe told presspersons here on Thursday that children of six schools were trained by resource persons and they would stage as many plays.

‘Guru Namana’, ‘Jnana Deepa’ and ‘Koli Koogidyake’ would be staged by students of Government Higher Primary School, Kallukhamba, Government-certified School for Boys, and Government Higher Primary School, Kappagal, respectively, on the first day.

‘Swayamvara’, ‘Ekagrate’ and ‘Nariya Janme’ would be staged by students of Government Primary School, Jalihal, Government Primary School Havambhavi, and Vasavi School, Ballari, respectively, on the second day.

The festival would be inaugurated by Kum. Veerbhadrappa, writer and recipient of Nrupatunga Award. B. Nagaraj, Assistant Director, Kannada and Culture, and Siddaiah Hiremath, senior reporter, Prajavani, would be among the chief guests.

Honouring artistes

Yati Gangamma and Sujata, both ‘Byalaata’ exponents, would be honoured at the function.

Manjunath Belakeri from Rangayana, Sashidhar Meti, reporter Kannada Prabha, and Arvind Patel, surgeon, among others, would participate in the valedictory function, he said. The entry is free.
