A day after being expelled from the BSP on Wednesday, Daddu Prasad on Thursday hit out at Mayawati alleging that she takes money for granting party tickets for elections and claimed that he was removed from party for objecting to this practice.

BSP, however, rejected Prasad’s claim and stated that the former minister was venting his frustration after his expulsion.

Prasad who was the Rural Development Minister in the previous Mayawati government and was BSP MLA three times, is the third leader after former Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Das and sitting MP Jugul Kishore to level similar allegations against Mayawati and BSP.

Das had levelled the allegation days after he had resigned from the party and Mayawati had accused him of offering money to get renominated to Rajya Sabha. Kishore made a similar claim after he was relieved from all organisational responsibilities in the BSP.

Accusing Mayawati and other BSP leaders close to her of “selling” party tickets, Prasad told reporters: “No one in BSP dares to tell the truth to Mayawati and everyone is afraid of her. No real analysis of the party’s defeats is done even after the 2014 Lok Sabha rout. Party tickets are sold to wealthy people in the elections.”

Festive offer

BSP general secretary Swami Prasad Maurya dismissed Prasad’s allegations as “baseless” and “fabricated”. “Daddu Prasad was thrice elected as  MLA and party never took even a rupee from him. He is levelling such allegations to defame BSP after his expulsion in order to vent his frustration. He found nothing wrong with Mayawati when he was in the party but is telling these things after his expulsion,” said Maurya.

Prasad, who hails from Chitrakoot in Bundelkhand region, was sacked from the party by state president Ram Achal Rajbhar on Wednesday for alleged anti-party activities.
