The Army -- engaged in counter-insurgency operation in the state -- today arrested two hardcore National Democratic Front of Bodoland -Songbijit (NDFB-S) cadres and three over-ground workers of the outfit from Chirang and Kokrajhar districts of Assam respectively.
A defence source said that the operation was planned on specific intelligence provided by the Army intelligence wing.
The apprehended men included Sansuma Brahma alias B Susrwn, 35th batch Myanmar-trained terrorist. A large quantity of arms and ammunition including one 7.65mm pistol, two country-made revolvers, one crude bomb and two hand grenades were seized during these operations.
In the drive against the terrorist organisation, the Army has stepped up its operation in the deep jungles of Kokrajhar and Chirang after massacre of Adivasi villagers by the NDFB-S on December 23 last year.
These operations have resulted in the apprehension of 38 NDFB(S) cadres, which includes Enon, the chief recruiting officer of the terrorist organisation and the third in hierarchy. Many middle and lower-rung cadres of the outfit have also been apprehended, who had direct or indirect involvement in the carnage of Adivasis.
