The holidays were joyous, but always exhausting, and we Babes hadn't seen each other for an entire two weeks. Needing some relaxation and "Babes" time, we packed up our husbands for a weekend getaway and headed to...Williamsburg, Virginia.

At this point, you might be questioning our thrill meter-- Williamsburg...in the dead of winter? What about Anguilla or Palm Beach, or even the snowy slopes of Colorado? So yesterday! Williamsburg is an easy three-hour drive from Washington, DC and less than an hour's drive from Richmond. It's home to Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William and Mary, and Busch Gardens, Jamestown, and Yorktown are just a short drive away.

Another appeal is the fabulous Kingsmill Resort situated right on the James River. We each enjoyed a one-bedroom luxurious suite, complete with a wood-burning fireplace and full kitchen. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful (ask for Grant, our new BFF). There are miles of walking trails throughout the property and the vista of the James River is breathtaking. And, as luck would have it, the resort just opened a brand new spa - just in time for our visit!

After sending off the husbands to explore Colonial Williamsburg, we Babes decided it was our patriotic duty to help break in the spa. We changed into plush robes and were gently ushered into a "quiet" room with reclining chairs overlooking the river. A few relaxing minutes later, our masseuses appeared for deep-tissue massages. Afterwards, we were so relaxed, we decided to head back to the "quiet" room to sip chamomile tea and float off into a zen-like state on those comfy recliners. Nirvana.

So the next time you're looking to get out of town.....think about a jaunt to Williamsburg. You'll experience history, enjoy rides and shows at Busch Gardens, and get pampered. And if all three aren't your "thing," even one is worth a visit!
