This is the first time that paintings have been brought to Japan from Switzerland's Kunsthaus Zurich, which boasts the largest collection of modern art in Zurich and includes numerous works by the country's finest artists, such as Ferdinand Hodler and Alberto Giacometti.
Seventy-four masterpieces by renowned artists — including Claude Monet, Felix Edouard Vallotton and Pablo Picasso — are being showcased in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the "Treaty of Amity and Commerce" between Switzerland and Japan. One of the highlights is the debut showing of Monet's 6-meter-wide "The Water Lily Pond in the Evening"; Jan. 31-May 10.
