University of Mysore, Mysuru and Hokkaido University, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for academic and research collaborations.
Prof. K.S. Rangappa, Vice-chancellor, University of Mysore and Prof. Keizo Yamaguchi, President, Hokkaido University signed the MoU at the Syndicate chambers here. Officials from the Hokkaido University – Prof. Makoto Demura, Prof. Shinichiro Nishimura and Prof. Kenji Monde – and from the University of Mysore – Registrar C. Basavaraj – were present.
Prof. Rangappa told reporters, “We are pleased to collaborate with one of the oldest and prestigious universities of Japan. We are looking forward for a successful partnership with the Japanese university for academic and research excellence.”
Exchange of faculty members, research scholars and students, exchange of academic materials and publications, joint research projects, organising symposiums, seminars and workshops are among the salient features of the collaboration, he added.
The collaboration is for a period of five years and it gets renewed every five years, the VC said.
Prof. Yamaguchi said the collaboration will foster academic partnerships in the area of life sciences. “We are glad to be associated with the University of Mysore,” he said.
