Martyr’s family seeks job to keep afloat
KANPUR: Deputy Commandant of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) BS Verma laid down his life in a Naxal attack in December last year. Now, his family members, residing in Khadepur village of Naubasta in South City have moved the state government seeking job for a family member.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had visited the martyr’s home on December 12, 2014 and handed over a cheque of Rs 20 lakh, the family wants a job to keep afloat.

Martyr’s younger brother Arun Verma said that a month back, divisional commissioner’s office had sought his credentials. “However, nothing has happened since then,” he said adding, “We are thankful to the CM for the monetary help but if I have a job, I will be able to earn livelihood and take care of my old parents and my brother’s children.”
“I am humbly requesting a job and have already done post-graduation,” he pleaded. He further said that local MLA Satish Mahan had visited the village on January 25, this year and promised to develop the park near Vermas’ house. “We want a boundary wall around the park with a gate dedicated to the martyr near our house. We also want a Samadhi sthal for the late deputy commandant,” he said.
"Mahana promised us of boundary wall and gate through MLA fund. He also sanctioned Rs 12.5 lakh for the very purpose. We are thankful to them for this initiative. But the Samadhi Sthal is yet to be constructed. I got the construction work started with my little savings but it is still incomplete,” said Arun.
He concluded by saying that on the occasion of January 26, no district official or the MLA turned up at his place to pay respect to his late brother except members of an NGO who hoisted the tricolour flag at the spot.
