Gang headed by BE student busted, 4 nabbed
INDORE: A gang of robbers headed by an engineering student was busted by city’s Hira Nagar police on Wednesday. Acting against growing incidents of burglary and robbery in posh Hira Nagar, Lasudiya and Vijay Nagar areas of the city, cops from Hira Nagar police station nabbed four members operating the racket.
A resident of city’s Sukhliya locality, 21-year-old Amit alias Kalu Yadav, is a BE second semester student at a premier engineering college of Indore.
He was operating the gang for last four months.
The other arrested include Kana Yadav alias Chimpanzee, Jai Suliya alias Shaktiman and Sonu Yadav, all residents of Hira Nagar.
Hira Nagar police station in charge Shashikant Chourasia said Amit had committed a spate of burglaries and loots in three police station areas of east Indore, including theft of a laptop and a computer from a PNG company office, besides a motorcycle from Bapat Crossing recently.
A few days ago, the gang members had also looted a motorbike and jewellery from a man, after stabbing him near SICA School in Scheme 78 area.
“With their arrest, we hope get a breakthrough in a number of other robbery cases. During interrogation, they might also reveal the details about gang members in other parts of Indore,” added Chourasia.
The arrested gang members, all between 20 and 24 years, committed the crime to fund drug addiction.
Meanwhile, city’s Banganga police busted another gang of youths, which had burgled computers and cell-phones from a shop at Sanwer Road on November 3, 2014.
Banganga police station in charge Yogesh Singh Tomar said the arrested youths have been identified as Rajesh Chaudhary, 21, Manish Balai, 21, Manoj Balai, 26, Bharat Balai, 30 and Vishal Chouhan, 19 (residents of Indore and Ujjain). As many as nine cell-phones, a monitor and a keyboard were recovered from their possession.
