Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala inaugurated the renovated Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium here on Wednesday.

At the event, which also saw the switching on of the newly installed floodlights at the stadium, Mr. Chennithala said the potential of the stadium, renovated at a cost of Rs.11 crore, had to be utilised fully to develop a sports model that would be a model to the rest of the country.

However, a lack of sporting facilities was a major impediment to the growth of sports sector here. The stadium would hopefully address that issue, he said.
