Bar licence bribery: BJYM activists march to Collectorate

January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KOLLAM:

Demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the bar licence bribery charge against Finance Minister K.M. Mani, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) marched to the district Collectorate here on Wednesday. The march was blocked by a strong police posse outside the collectorate gates.

The BJYM activists then squatted on the road and held a dharna which was inaugurated by the BJYM State president P. Sudheer. In his address Mr. Sudheer said that in the light of more and more exposures on the bar licence case, the UDF government should resign and face a CBI probe. The Oommen Chandy government is going out of the way to protect corrupt people, he alleged.

On January 30, the BJYM will lead a march to the official residence of Mr. Mani.

Marches to the district Collectorates of Kozhikode and Thrissur raising the same demand will be taken out the next day.
