e-Yantra Robotics Lab inaugurated

e-Yantra Robotics Lab was inaugurated at the Sona Colleg of Technology in the city recently.

e-Yantra is a project initiated by IIT-Mumbai and sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Department under National Mission of Education through Information and Communication Technology.

The mission of e-yantra project is to enable students and staff of technical institutions to take India’s economy a greater height by 2020 with the help of technological innovations.

Sona college of Technology is one of the Nodal centre’s for e-Yantra in Tamil Nadu.

Saraswathy Keerthivasan, Project Manager, e-Yantra, inaugurated the lab.

The event was marked by an e-Yantra Robotics Teachers Competition, which was conducted by Dr. Saraswathy Keerthivasan, and team.

A total of 64 faculty participants from 14 technical institutions participated in the competition. The teams were given a real time problem of parking the vehicles in the appropriate parking area. All the teams came up with the various solutions.

Team from Government College of Engineering, Bargur won the first prize, team from Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic College, Sivakasi finished runner up.

Dr. Saraswathy Keerthivasan gave away prizes to the winners. V.Jayaprakash, Principal, Sona College of Technology, and Nodal centre co-ordinator and Karthikeyan, Principal, Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, offered felicitations.
