Deposit money as promised in Jan Dhan accounts: Lalu

January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:25 am IST - Patna:

RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Wednesday said he would lead a peaceful march to State BJP headquarters here on March 15 to demand that Rs. 15,000 be deposited in every bank account as promised in the “Jan Dhan” yojna.

“I will lead a march from Gandhi Maidan here to BJP Headquarters on March 15. Lakhs of people will come with me and we will demand that Rs. 15,000 should be immediately deposited in all bank accounts opened under Jan Dhan Yojana,” Prasad said.

The RJD Chief was speaking at the 91st birth anniversary function of veteran socialist leader and former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur.

“We will not indulge in fights with BJP people at their office. The march will be peaceful, but we will demand the money to be deposited in the accounts, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised,” he said.

The RJD chief pilloried BJP for going back on promise to bring back black money into the country.

“Earlier they (BJP) used to tell figures of the black money in lakhs of crores. They used to talk about me also that I have stashed money in foreign banks. Now Mr. Modi says they do not know how much black money is there,” Prasad said.

The RJD leader also poked fun at yoga guru Baba Ramdev asking why he was quiet these days on the issue of black money of which he used to blow trumpet earlier.

Mr. Prasad said he would hit the streets after his youngest daughter Raj Lakshmi’s marriage with grandson of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on February 26 and move towards villages to make people aware about the “reality of BJP’s policies”.

On employment front, he alleged that MBA degree holders were not getting jobs and the Central government has cut down expenditure on social sector by Rs. 25,000 crore.

“Even welfare schemes like MGNREGA are being closed,” the former Bihar chief minister said.

Claiming that they have garnered more strength after RJD and JD (U) forged an alliance, he said, “If 19 per cent votes of JD (U) and our 28 per cent votes are added, we will have 48 per cent votes in the State. The BJP will then not be able to stand.” - PTI
