One Air Force jawan dies of suffocation
MOHALI: A 50-year-old Air Force jawan died due to suffocation at his house in Lajpat Nagar, Zirakpur, on Tuesday night.
The wife of the jawan, Sandeep Joshi, had gone to Haldwani, Uttarakhand, to meet their daughter a week ago. Joshi was to join them on Sunday. But when he did not reach there, his worried wife tried to contact him. When he did not answer her repeated phone calls, she contacted her neighbours.
The neighbours broke open the door when nobody answered it and found Joshi lying on his bed and the blower switched on.
They called the police and took Joshi to civil hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The postmortem report said, "Joshi died due to suffocation caused by (carbon monoxide poisoning) heater in the room and unintentionally kept on inhaling poisonous gas into his lungs."
