‘Arrested history-sheeter has links to other criminal activities of wanted fugitive’

Crime Branch sources said that Bachkana seems to have been helping the wanted criminal with recruitment of henchmen.

The Mumbai police crime branch’s investigations against arrested accused Yusuf Suleiman Kadri alias Yusuf Bachkana have started throwing up links to several other criminal activities of a particular wanted fugitive than the one that Bachkana was arrested for. His interrogation has revealed that he was also in touch with a module of the fugitive’s henchmen which was busted in Pune last year, crime branch officers said.

Bachkana, who was serving a sentence in the Bangalore central jail, was brought to Mumbai on January 21 this year in connection with the alleged plan to kill a Bollywood producer-director last year.

Bachkana first came under the police scanner in the case after it was revealed that one of the 13 arrested accused had met him in court when he was brought to Mumbai in connection with another case last year.

Crime Branch sources said that Bachkana, according to investigations so far, seems to have been helping the wanted criminal with recruitment of henchmen.

“Bachkana has confessed to have been in touch with a module of three men who were arrested from Pune in September last year. The trio were working for the wanted fugitive and were part of his extortion racket. Bachkana was in touch with them in jail, and put them in touch with the fugitive,” said an officer.
