On a high, claiming to have enrolled more than 4.25 crore new members in its ongoing drive across the country, the BJP has now said those members who get maximum new members for the party will get to have tea with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party national president Amit Shah.
While Uttar Pradesh is leading the drive with more than one crore new enrolments, Assam leads, followed by Karnataka and Gujarat, when it comes to percentage of membership against total population of the state.
At present, Sagar Joshi of Jodhpur in Rajasthan is leading the race by making 18, 400 members. BJP national vice-president and membership in-charge Dinesh Sharma felicitated Joshi recently. Another worker from Karnataka following Joshi having added around 6,000 members.
Sharma told The Indian Express that the worker adding maximum new members will be given an opportunity to meet the PM and have tea with him.
While party had launched membership drive nationally on November 1, campaign was started in UP on November 13 with target to add 1.5 crore members in the state by March 31. The party had crossed one crore mark on Sunday.
Sharma said party has received 7.68 crore missed calls at its call centre from people who want to become BJP members and 4.25 crore have completed the formalities.
While Sharma said that party will hold celebrations after completing the membership campaign on March 31, several district presidents in Uttar Pradesh have offered lunch to workers to extend thanks to them for their contribution.
Membership in-charge for the state Swatantra Deo Singh said, “We have reached the one crore mark and now workers will distribute sweets and send ‘dhanyawad’ messages to all the new members”.
