Lions Gate Plans Film Production Deal With China’s Hunan TV

Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. is planning a $1.5 billion film project with Hunan TV, China’s second largest broadcaster, as part of an effort to tap that fast-growing motion picture market.

Hunan TV will invest in film production and distribution over three years with Lions Gate, the studio behind “The Hunger Games,” the Chinese company said in a statement TV at the Shenzhen stock exchange. The initiatives being discussed include co-production in China and television, said a person familiar with the plan who wasn’t authorized to speak publicly.
