A duo of fast-rising French stars, Guillaume Gallienne (“Yves Saint Laurent”) and Adèle Exarchopoulos (“Blue is The Warmest Color”) are set to topline “Down by Love,” a romance drama directed by Pierre Godeau.

Penned by Godeau, the film follows Jean, a renown prison director whose career in the administration is on the rise. But the arrival of a young detainee, Anna (Exarchopoulos), threatens to shatter his stable life as the pair engage in a forbidden and passionate romance.

Pic is produced by Pan-Europeenne and LGM Cinema, the outfit behind Gallienne’s “Me, Myself and Mom,” which won five Cesar awards. LGM, best known for mainstream French fare, recently launched a label dedicated to arthouse movies.

A young director, Godeau previously helmed “Juliette,” a romantic comedy with Astrid Bergès-Frisbey.

Exarchopoulos, who is best-known for her Palme-d’Or winning performance in “Blue is the Warmest Color,” recently completed the shooting of Sean Penn’s “The Last Face.”
