Johannesburg - Mogale City Local Municipality would like to inform residents and those who plan to visit the area that Rand Water will shut down its Eikenhof Pump Station on February 2 and 3 2015.
The shutdown was initially planned for January 24 and 25 2015 but was cancelled. Rand Water needs to do some work on the F6, F13 and F16 pipelines. Only one pipeline will be running during the shutdown which will last 25 hours.
Rand Water said in a statement on Wednesday that it will ensure that all Krugersdorp Reservoirs are full before the shutdown. All areas of the city will be affected by the shutdown, but those that will be severely affected will be Rietfontein, Muldersdrift, Mindalore, Nooitgedacht and Driefontein.
Residents will notice a drop in water pressure and some areas will see a total loss of water. Rand Water will supply water tankers to the affected areas should the shutdown take longer than scheduled.
"We appeal to the residents to use water sparingly during the shutdown, for instance not watering their gardens and filling their swimming pools," the municipality said.
"We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that will be caused. Residents should contact the water@mogalecity.gov.za Emergency Line 107 or 0119513000 for any queries during the shutdown."
