Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Hosts Medical Experts from around the World at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group hosted a dinner in honour of medical experts from around the world at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah on Wednesday January 27, 2015. 

Joining Al Habtoor was Graham MacGregor, a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine and honorary consultant physician at St George’s Hospital in London. Professor MacGregor set up Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH) in 1996 and World Action on Salt and Health (WASH) in 2005 and chairs both. He also chairs the Blood Pressure Association of the United Kingdom, sits on the board of the World Hypertension League and recently served as President of the British Hypertension Society.

The Chairman was also joined by Dr. Bud Frazier, Chief of Cardiopulmonary Transplantation. He is the Program director and Chief, Center for Cardiac Support; Director of Cardiovascular Surgery Research, Texas Heart Institute Chief of Transplant Service at CHI St. Luke’s Health - Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Also present was Wayne Keathley, President of CHI St. Luke’s Health; and Tania Matar, Vice President of International Services at CHI St Luke’ Health.

Al Habtoor said, “I felt very safe being surrounded by some of the top experts in the medical field.”

The medical experts are here as part of the Arab Health Exhibition & Congress 2015, the region’s largest healthcare industry event, which runs from January 26-29 at the Dubai World Trade Center, drawing in more than 120,000 visitors around the world. The four-day event, in its 40th year, has 4,000 exhibitors from 40 countries showcasing their latest products and services.

Al Habtoor said, “Dubai is the perfect venue for conferences of this kind. We have made leaps and bounds in the medical field from establishing a regional medical hub, to advancements in medical research and attracting some of the most respected names in the sector. Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) is a fine example of what we can achieve. We need to continue to develop our medical sector further and be pioneers in medical research.”

As part of the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation (KAHF), the Al Habtoor Group Chairman, has donated significantly to the healthcare sector, including funding the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Simulation Centre in DHCC.   The centre features groundbreaking technology and provides risk-free training for healthcare professionals in a simulated environment. The KHMSC is one of the main projects within the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre.
