Spartak Moscow defender Salvatore Bocchetti is set to complete his temporary switch to AC Milan in the next 24 hours.

The Italy international arrived in Milan on Tuesday night and will join the Rossoneri on a six-month loan deal from Spartak, pending the outcome of a medical.

A statement from Milan read: "Spartak Moscow defender Salvatore Bocchetti has arrived at the Milan La Madonnina clinic and will undergo a medical on Wednesday morning.

"Once this is completed, Bocchetti will become a Milan player for the coming months."

A former Ascoli and Genoa player, Bocchetti moved to Spartak from fellow Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan in January 2013.

The 28-year-old, who is the third player to leave to Spartak on loan in the winter transfer market following the departures of Roman Shirokov to FC Krasnodar and Tino Costa to Genoa, is delighted to be back in Italy.

"I am extremely happy to return to Italy after four years abroad," he told the club's official website. "I really missed my country.
