Rennie extends Chiefs stay

Wellington - Two-time Super Rugby-winning coach Dave Rennie has agreed a two-year contract extension with the Hamilton-based Chiefs.

Rennie, who coached the Chiefs to the Super Rugby title in 2012 and 2013, will now remain with the team through the 2017 season.

He said: "I get to work with some awesome people so from that point of view it was easy to decide. But I guess the worry is that staying in one place at some point you need a new voice and new direction. That's the sort of thing I mulled over for a while before I committed."

Rennie will have two new assistants this season as Wayne Smith has rejoined the All Blacks as an assistant coach and Tom Coventry has become head coach at London Irish.
