Soldiers unhurt by Pattani blast

A bomb went off near some soldiers at a roadside vending stall on Highway 42 in Pattani's Muang district on Wednesday morning, but inflicted no casualties, police said.

The explosion occurred about 8.10am while nine soldiers from Pattani Task Force 23 were on patrol along the road to provide security for teachers.

As the soldiers were heading for Ban Pare School, which was only 300m from their operations base, a bomb laid under one of the roadside stalls selling sugar palms was detonated by militants hiding nearby.

The explosion damaged the vending stalls but did not hurt anyone.
