The Poovar police on Tuesday arrested Manoj of Thiruppuram on the charge of raping a 16-year-old girl over the past three years.
The police were on the lookout for his accomplices. The victim, a Plus One student, was reported missing by her parents. The police registered a case on a complaint by the victim’s father. They traced the victim and the accused subsequently. On medical examination, it was revealed that she had been raped by more than one person, the police said.
The accused had been abusing the girl from when she was a class VIII student, the police said. The girl was handed over to her parents. The accused was produced in court.
