End to rash traffic, drain stench sought

While a member of a parent-teacher association in Kulashekar complained about the problems caused to children due to rash driving on the Mangaluru-Moodbidiri road, residents of Rajiv Nagar wanted an end to the stench from the clogged storm-water drain.

Some others sought title deeds for the land on which they have built houses.

At the Janata Darshan, organised by Mangaluru South MLA J.R. Lobo, Ronny Crasta, a member of the Sacred Hearts School Parent-Teachers’ Association, said children found it hard to cross the road. As many as 4,000 students study in the two primary and two secondary schools and he sought regulation of traffic. Mr. Crasta sought the removal of a weak tree as it could cause harm to children who play around it.

Residents of Rajiv Nagar sought title deeds. Another group of residents from Rajiv Nagar complained of the stink from the clogged storm water drain. They also complained of absence of motorable road from their area to the road connecting the city.

Residents of Karnataka Housing Board colony asked Mr. Lobo to provide a jogging track and a park in the 30 cents of land off the Shakthinagar Main Road that was presently used for dumping construction waste. Mayor Mahabala Marla, Mangaluru City Corporation Joint Commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, Assistant Commissioner D.R. Ashok participated.
