Cadre of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), led by Dindigul MLA K. Balabarathi, took out a protest rally and staged a demonstration before the Dindigul union office, demanding payment of old-age pension and widow pension to beneficiaries here on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, Ms Balabarathi said the State government had not disbursed old-age pension and widow pension to thousands of beneficiaries for several months.

If the government failed to settle the old age pension immediately, the party cadre would stage agitation before the government offices.

The rally started at the Clock Tower and ended at Dindigul union office, after passing through prime roads.
