Tarun Vijay to distribute one lakh books on Thirukkural

Tarun Vijay, Member of Parliament, on Tuesday said that he had planned to distribute one lakh pocket size books on Thirukkural to students .

Unveiling a statue of saint poet Thiruvalluvar at the Thiruvalluvar College of Arts and Management here, he said the couplets of Thirukkural dealt with all moral values of human life. It was a unique literature that deals extensively with morality in public life. Thiruvalluvar had given much importance to public life. The messages, highlighted by him, should reach each and every individual.

As a measure of taking his messages to the younger generation, he would distribute 1 lakh pocket size books to the school and college students.

Citing the celebration of Thiruvallur Day in schools across the country recently, Mr. Vijay said he would continue to take steps to popularise Thiruvalluvar in North India. Steps would be taken to teach Thirukkural in North Indian schools.
