Jagan Mohan Reddy surprises with visit to ashram

Mr Reddy first visited Simhachalam temple and then the Peetham

Visakhapatnam: YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Sarada Peetham in Vizag to take part in the ashram’s anniversary celebrations on Tuesday has raised many eyebrows.

The visit is seen as a move to attract certain sections, which were wary of Mr Reddy, during the 2014 polls due to many reasons.

The visit also gains significance because of Sarada Peetham, seer Swamy Swaroopanandendra Saraswathy’s proximity to certain top functionaries of RSS.

Highly placed sources close to the seer told this newspaper that it was a pleasant surprise when Mr Reddy immediately accepted their invitation to take part in the anniversary activities.

Interestingly Mr Reddy had no other agenda during his trip to Vizag other than visiting Sarada Peetham. On the advice of the seer, Mr Reddy first visited Simhachalam temple and then the Peetham. He also visited beach road to check the sea erosion.

“Within a few days after we sent the invitation, a group of local YSRC leaders came to the ashram to inform us that he (Mr Reddy) would like to visit Sarada Peetham on our invitation.”

The anniversary activities of the Peetham which began on Jan. 26 will continue till Jan. 30. On Tuesday, Mr Reddy, along with a few local aides had a private audience with the Sarada Peetham seer.

Later, he was taken around all the temples in the ashram premises and then spent sometime at the yaga shala where Chandiyagam was being held. The seer also tied a raksha on the right wrist of Mr Reddy.
