Galway and Portumna star Joe Canning showed he is maintaining a positive outlook and a sense of humour following his finger injury at the weekend.

The Tribesmen eased their way into the Walsh Cup semi-finals on Sunday with victory over Offaly but the gloss was taken off when the ace attacker was forced to leave the field of play.

Within two minutes of making his seasonal debut in Tullamore, the Portumna great had bagged a goal to end any remote hope of an Offaly revival, but left the pitch with the little finger of his right hand in a splint - dislocated and believed to be broken - which could yet keep him out for over a month.

Tonight he posted a picture of the X-ray and couldn't resist a reference to the drama that has gripped the nation.
