7 killed as 2 cars collide in Mahbubnagar

The incident occurred on the outskirts of Komireddipalli on NH-44 at around 6.20 am

Hyderabad: Six pilgrims from Nanded and one native of Kerala were killed in a road mishap in Mahbubnagar on early on Tuesday.

The Tavera in which the pilgrims were travelling, crossed a road divider at high speed and rammed into an Innova coming in the opposite direction. Police officials from Addakal said that the Tavera was overspeeding, and the driver lost control. Four people who were injured in the accident were shifted to a corporate hospital.

The incident occurred on the outskirts of Komireddipalli on NH-44 at around 6.20 am.

“The crash was so massive that the Tavera overturned, and passengers were seriously injured,” said a police officer from Wanaparthy division.

The victims were identified as Venkat Sambji, 42, R. Shankar Rao, 43, K. Srinivas, 42, J. Madhav, 45, P. Shankar, 45, and P. Balaji, 35, all natives of Nanded who were returning from Tirupati.

Sindhu Faizal, a native of Trichur in Kerala, also died in the mishap. “Three Keralites were going back after visiting a student related to them in the city,” a cop said.

Two of them sustained injuries, while one was killed,” said a police officer.

Cops said that the victims sucumbed instatnly after the mishap due to serious injuries. Most of the victims were trapped inside the vehicle, which was massively damaged in the collision.

Police have shifted the bodies to mortuaries and informed the relatives. A case has been registered and investigated.
