UT Adviser inaugurates Traffic Awareness Week

Performances by Amitabh Narayan, Raja Rancho and Bhangra by the UT Police officials were the day's highlights.

Adviser to the Administrator Vijay Kumar Dev inaugurated the Traffic Awareness Week of the UT Police on Tuesday. The week, with the theme, ‘Safety is not just a slogan, It’s a way of life’, will include a host of activities, especially in schools and colleges.

On the occasion, a review book was also released with an analysis of the law-and-order situation of the city. A black book comprising analysis of traffic accidents was also released.

Awareness programmes were also organised in schools and colleges. At the inauguration function, the adviser and Inspector General of Police R P Upadhyay urged residents to follow traffic rules and cooperate with the traffic police.

Performances by singer Amitabh Narayan, comedian Raja Rancho and Bhangra by the UT Police officials were the highlights of the day.

Besides, road safety workshops were organised at Post-Graduate College of Arts, Sector 42; Khalsa College for Boys and Girls, Sector 26; Dev Samaj College, Sector 45; SD College, Sector 32, BR Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management and Catering, Sector 42; and N-Area Army.

Festive offer

A road safety exhibition is also on at Sector 17 Plaza, wherein short films and road safety videos are being shown. Public announcements are also being made at the major light points.
