Vadodara girl receives bravery award

Zeal Marathe, 13, a student of ninth standard of Bright School received the prestigious National Bravery Award from the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PMO House in Delhi.

VADODARA: Zeal Marathe, 13, a student of ninth standard of Bright School received the prestigious National Bravery Award from the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PMO House in Delhi. Marathe presented a photograph of Swami Vivekananda to Modi on the occasion.
Marathe received the award for showing no fear during the accident of the school bus returning from picnic in February, 2014, and for saving several lives with her courageous act.

Marathe was among 24 children who received the awards this year. The award is given by Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW). She was also felicitated by the President and the Vice President on Thursday before she formally received the award on Friday. She also participated in the Republic Day parade along with other bravery award winners.
Marathe is an initiated disciple and a student of the value education programme of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Memorial at Vadodara. Her parents are also ardent devotees of the ashram.
