In an interview to a tabloid, Irrfan Khan was quoted as saying, “It was a lengthy, pivotal role (Ridely Scott’s ‘
The Martian’) but I had already committed the dates to Shoojit Sircar for
Piku”.

Piku is centered around a quirky father-daughter relationship between
Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, Irrfan plays a very pivotal role in the film.
