Watford have recalled teenage striker Uche Ikpeazu from his loan spell at Crewe 24 hours after agreeing to extend his stay with the club until the end of the season.

Crewe announced on Monday they had agreed to keep Ikpeazu, but Watford have initiated their recall clause and it is understood the 19-year-old will now be heading to another club.

"Crewe Alexandra's loanee forward Uche Ikpeazu has been recalled by his parent club Watford with a view to him going elsewhere in the January transfer window," Crewe confirmed on their official club website.

"Ikpeazu had agreed to extend his stay at Crewe until the end of the season, but his loan agreement had a standard recall clause that could be implemented after 28 days.

"It is believed he will now be allowed to join another Football League club before the transfer deadline on February 2."

Ikpeazu scored two goals in eight appearances since arriving at Crewe at the end of November and is currently in his second loan spell at the club, having scored four times in 15 games in the second half of last season.
