Sanjay Leela Bhansali wants Sonam Kapoor to marry

Sonam Kapoor, Sanjay Leela Bhansali Sonam’s mentor Sanjay Bhansali who introduced her in ‘Saawariya’ is very concerned about her marriage.

Dolly Ki Doli‘ is happening. But what about Sonam Kapoor who plays Dolly? When would she find the right man to settle down with?

Apparently Sonam’s mentor Sanjay Bhansali who introduced her in ‘Saawariya’ is very concerned about this.

Speaking from Dubai where she is attending her new film’s premiere Sonam says, “Sanjay Sir keeps harping on the subject of my marriage. ‘When will you get married? How will you get married when you don’t have the time to find the right person?’ He keeps reminding me. But the truth is, right now I really don’t have space in my life for a relationship. Not that anyone would know when I do have someone in my life. I like to keep my personal life to myself.”

Sonam Kapoor is currently completely career-driven. “I feel this is the time when I need to focus completely on my work; because an actor is what I want to be all my life…Not that I can’t be an actor after I marry. I can. And I will. But that won’t happen for a couple of years.”

Sonam Kapoor is understandably excited by the positive reviews of Dolly Ki Doli. She carries the film on her shoulders and is, for all practical purposes, the film’s hero.

Festive offer

She protests hard at the suggestion. I don’t think I enjoy being called the hero of Khoobsurat and now Dolly Ki Doli. The former had Fawad Khan who became a huge success after the film’s release. Dolly Ki Doli has some very talented male actors like Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Pulkit Samrat. Without their support I couldn’t have done what I did in these two films.”

Sonam is all praise for her producers. “Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan were so supportive during the making of Dolly Ki Doli. It felt just like home. In Khoobsurat my sister Rhea as producer. She looked after everything. So you see, I’ve been lucky. I wouldn’t be able to have so much fun doing comedy if I didn’t get the kind of support that I did.”

Bollywood’s resident fashionista finds comedy very liberating. “It’s the most fun genre of cinema to do. And also the most difficult. Getting the timing right in a comedy is really tough.”

After two back-to-back comedies Sonam is stepping off the comic mode. “I think I’ve done enough comedy in my last two films, and also in a portion of Raanjhaana which was otherwise a dramatic film. My next release is Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is a pure love story. This will be followed by ‘The Battle Of Bittora’ which is a romantic comedy.”

For now Sonam Kapoor is busy promoting ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ aggressively. “We’re moving from city to city so fast it’s hard to tell where I wake up. This is the kind of fun film which needs that extra push. I had a ball doing comedy. But for now, no more comedies.”
