The radio report said that the man, who was walking with his head down might have failed to see the approaching train. It added that because of his old age, the senior citizen could also be suffering from hearing problems.

PNR spokesperson Paul de Quiroz, in a text message to INQUIRER.net, said the man was not on the right crossing area.

“The man was not supposed to be walking along or very near the tracks. We have crossings and intersections for vehicle and pedestrian traffic,” de Quiroz said.

But he said the man’s family may apply for financial assistance in their office.

Police have responded to the area of the incident as of posting.
