DD coverage goes hi-tech

January 27, 2015 09:26 am | Updated 09:27 am IST - New Delhi:

Improved images and special sign language commentary for the hearing-impaired — the national broadcaster Doordarshan’s live coverage of the Republic Day parade was impressive this year.

Senior DD officials said apart from providing sign language interpretation on DD News and DD Bharati, the national broadcaster also set up 24 high-definition cameras and deputed nearly 100 skilled professionals for the coverage of the event. The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had earlier asked private channels to carry the live telecast of the parade with commentary, along with the signals of DD News with sign language interpretation.

DD News also let private satellite TV channels carry the feed of the event free of cost. — PTI
