'The campaign blitzkrieg will leave the capital stunned'

The packed engagement with President Barack Obama out of the way, BJP is now all set to unleash its most potent campaign arsenal on Delhi. Sources said January 28 onwards, the party will put its top leaders — including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his No. 2 at the Centre Rajnath Singh — into aggressive campaigning.

Five to 10 top leaders will be campaigning for each of the chosen candidates. For example, for Trilokpuri candidate Kiran Vaidya, the party has finalised a list of bigwigs such as Amit Shah, Harsh Vardhan, Sushma Swaraj, Kiran Bedi, Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani. BJP candidate from Madipur, Rajkumar, will be get a Modi rally, which will also include Shah, Bedi, Hema Malini, Swaraj, Shahnawaz Hussain, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Irani as lead campaigners”.

“The campaign blitzkrieg will leave the capital stunned,” boasted a senior party leader when asked about the lukewarm campaigning by the party so far.

Similarly, the party has shortlisted another Modi rally for the party’s Nangloi Jat candidate, Manoj Shokeen. Shokeen will get Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Shatrughan Sinha, Irani, Hema Malini, Manoj Tiwari and Navjyot Singh Siddhu as other campaigners. Uma Bharti is set to campaign in Kirari for Anil Jha on Tuesday.

While party is finalising the list for all 70 candidates, precaution is being taken to keep the campaigners’ list a secret. “If we list a senior leader as campaigner and he does not turn up because of any reason, it gives a wrong signal. So we will issue the list on day-to-day basis,” said Anil Jain, BJP leader in-charge of rallies and campaign.
