Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. says he didn’t find much sympathy from his wife when he talked to her about having to pay attention during President Obama’s State of the Union address.
Asked during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ show how many times he stood up during the address, Mr. Biden said, “Probably not enough. I don’t have any idea.”
“Well, you know, it’s exhausting but the thing I loved about his speech — he’s talking about what we value, the things you’ve heard me talk about for years. … I think it’s good stuff,” Mr. Biden said.
“My wife said to me, ‘I said, you know, Jill, I sit back there and I’m listening and I help[ed] write the ideas in the speech and I know it all, and … I got to pay attention. She said, ‘Welcome to the club,’ ” he said.
“I said ‘what do you mean?’ She said, ‘Welcome to the good wife’s club,’” he said. “She said, ‘How many times have I sat and listened to you make a speech and pretend to be interested?’ … so, you know, I’m a member of the good wife’s club.”
He was on the program encouraging people to sign up for Obamacare ahead of a Feb. 15 deadline.
