Liverpool are reportedly preparing a double bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette during the summer transfer window.

According to Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato Web, the Reds are finally ready to fill the gap left by Luis Suarez's departure to Barcelona last summer.

The Merseyside club spent well over £115m last summer, but failed to adequately replace their top scorer. The Reds did sign two strikers in Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli, but both have failed miserably, with the latter yet to score for Liverpool in the Premier League.

With Daniel Sturridge being out injured for the last five months, the Reds have struggled to replicate the form of last year and are currently in eighth place five points off Manchester United in fourth place and 17 points behind league leaders Chelsea.

The report claims that manager Brendan Rodgers is ready to cut his losses and spend big and land Lyon's Lacazette and Benzema from 10-time European champions Real in a £63m double deal.

It is believed that the Reds are willing to pay £25m to bring the French striker from the Ligue 1 club and a further £38m to bring the former Lyon striker from the Spanish capital club.

But the club can do this only after they offload the underperforming players. Rodgers is willing to listen to offers for Balotelli and Lambert as he looks to bring more potency to his team.

Moreover, the manager also recently revealed that the Italian international striker does not fit Liverpool's style of play and made it clear that he will be selected for the first-team only if he puts in more of an effort to fit into the club's style of play during training.
