BHUBANESWAR: Spectators at the state-level parade on Republic Day here at Lower PMG would be treated to a scintillating roller-skating show, touted to be first-of-its-kind.
With full vigour, 24 students of city-based Takshila School are practising hard to regale the audience with an electrifying performance. Different groups of army, police, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Red Cross and other civilian troops are participating in the rehearsal since Thursday, but the roller skaters are drawing maximum eyeballs.
"I was mesmerized by the way the kids went past me. Everyone should come to encourage them. It would inspire other schools to organize similar shows," student of a city college Manas Sahoo said.
Class-III student Prateek Ghana, who is part of the roller-skating group, said, "It's will be great performing on the Republic Day before the dignitaries. I am confident of a good show."
Instructor of the team Dipika Das said roller skating is one among various activities promoted in the school. "Around 90 students are into roller skating. We have selected 24 best performers, including some girls, for the event. They are being trained at Kalinga Stadium here," she said.
Eighty groups and cultural teams will participate in the parade, which is scheduled to feature eight tableaux.
