Pvt firm to clean Sadhugram

NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is planning to appoint a private firm to carry out cleaning work in Sadhugram at Tapovan during Kumbh mela. Tenders will be invited from the private firms concerned engaged in such activities.
Sadhugram is a place where sadhus are accommodated during the mega event. Less than six months remain for the commencement of Kumbh mela, which is beginning from July 14.The district and civic administrations have already started most of the Kumbh-related works.
Around 3 lakh sahdus and 75 lakh people are expected to visit the city during the event. Providing facilities and amenities are the major challenges the authorities have to face. Sanitation is also one of the big issues before the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC).
Sadhugram is to be set up on 323 acres of land. The NMC has already acquired 54 acres and the remaining 269 acres are to be acquired on temporary basis. Speaking to TOI, an NMC official said, “The district collectorate has transferred 120 acres to us for the creation of Sadhugram. We are in the process to acquire the rest of the land. Besides creating Sadhugram, cleaning the place will also be one of the major responsibilities. Hence, we are planning to appoint a private firm to carry out cleaning work.”
“The firm appointed for cleaning the Sadhugram will be available on call for the sadhus. We will fix the frequency of the cleaning works at Sadhugram during Kumbh mela,” he added.
