Today on the occasion of Republic Day, the Delhi traffic police has issued a traffic advisory to Delhi citizens informing them of which areas and roads will be closed off.

Today on the occasion of Republic Day, the Delhi traffic police has issued a traffic advisory to Delhi citizens informing them which areas and roads will be closed off.

According to the Delhi Traffic police’s Facebook page Republic Day Parade shall start at about 9.50 AM from Vijay Chowk for Red Fort Grounds. There will be a related function at India Gate at 0900 hrs.

The route of the parade is as follows: Vijay Chowk – Rajpath - India Gate - Tilak Marg - Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg – Netaji Subhash Marg - Red Fort.

As far as restricted areas are concerned, the area bounded by Kautilya Marg-Kamal Ataturk Marg-Aurangzeb Road-‘Q’-point-Humayun Road-Subramaniam Bharti Marg-Mathura Road-Bhagwan Dass Road-Feroze Shah Road R/A Windsor Place-Ashoka Road-Baba Kharak Singh Marg-Mother Teresa Crescent and Sardar Patel Marg upto Kautilya Marg will be restricted area.

Only labelled vehicles of the invitees and vehicles of bonafide residents of these areas shall be permitted to enter from 6 am till conclusion of the Parade at about 12.30 pm.

Traffic and vehicular movement on Rajpath had already been blocked post 6 pm on 25 January. Also no traffic will be allowed on Tilak Marg, B S Z Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg upto Red Fort after 4:00 am on the Republic Day.

As far as those invited are concerned, they need to ensure that they have parking labels on their vehicles and should stick to allotted parking lot and seating enclosure.

As far as metro is concerned, entry & exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations will remain closed from 06.00 a.m. upto 12.00 noon. Patel Chowk and Race Course Metro stations entry and exit will remain closed from 08.45 a.m. to 12.00 noon. Central Secretariat station will only be used for interchange of passengers between Line 2 and Line 6.

No TSR and Taxi will be allowed to enter or ply in the restricted area after 6.00 am. Those visitors who are coming by auto/taxi may use ‘Park & Ride’ facility to reach the venue.

In addition people have been asked not to bring electronic items like laptop, camera/video Camera, transistor, digital diary, remote controlled car-keys, etc. Also eatables are not allowed, no water bottles, cigarette lighter, match boxes, knives, arms, etc.

There is ’Park & Ride’ scheme for invitees of certain categories. Officers upto the rank of Directors & equivalents, Service Officers, War Widows, Freedom Fighters & MLAs are to park their vehicles at the designated ‘Park & Ride’ locations.

These locations are Football Ground of Central Civil Services Sports and Cultural Board Ground, Vinay Marg (for South of Rajpath) and (2) Underground Palika Parking, Connaught Place (for North of Rajpath) and will avail shuttle bus service to reach their seating enclosures at Rajpath

Delhi Traffic police has also suggested some routs people can take during the parade.

NORTH –SOUTH CORRIDOR: Ring Road – Ashram Chowk – Sarai Kale Khan – I.P. Flyover – Rajghat – Ring Road From Aurobindo Chowk – Safdarjung Road – Kamal Atatturk Marg – Kautilya Marg – Sardar Patel Marg – Mother Teresa Crescent – roundabout RML – Baba Kharak Sing Marg etc. Prithvi Raj Road – Rajesh Pilot Marg – Subramanian Bharti Marg- Mathura Road etc.

EAST- WEST CORRIDOR: Ring Road-Bhairon Road- Mathura Road – S. Bharti Marg – Rajesh Pilot Marg - Prithvi Raj Road- Safdarjung Road- Kamal Atatturk Marg- Panchsheel Marg- Simon Bolivar Marg- Upper Ridge Road. Ring Road-Bhairon Road- Mathura Road – Lodhi Road – Aurbindo Marg- Safdarjung Road – Teen Murti Marg –Mother Teresa Crescent- Park Street – Shankar Road – Ring Road. INTER STATE BUSES: (I) Buses from Ghaziabad bound for Shivaji Stadium shall take NH-24, Ring Road. (II) All buses coming from Ghaziabad side will be diverted at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi for Wazirabad Bridge. (III) All buses coming from Dhaula Kuan side shall terminate at Dhaula Kuan.
