The Screen Actors Guild Awards began with a big surprise on Sunday — Zach Galifianakis looking almost unrecognizable.

During the opening selection of Actor’s Stories – a tradition in which selected thespians describe their career path, closing with the line, “I am an actor” – the “Birdman” star offered up a rare look at his new trim frame.

The 45-year-old actor, known as much for his bushy beard as his rotund figure, looked noticeably thinner and sported close-shaven facial hair and a man bun.

Galifianakis, whose latest film, “Birdman,” was nominated for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture, is currently filming the movie “Masterminds.”

This isn’t the first time the “Hangover” star has shown off his new look. October’s New York Film Festival screening of “Birdman” was the actor’s first public appearance in over a year.
