Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Sunday released the logo for Jeevan Daan programme launched by the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences.
The Governor participated in the capacity of the University Chancellor in a programme organised in this connection at the State Guest House here on Sunday evening. He said organ donation was supreme in comparison to bhu daanam or gau daanam.
Transplanting organs
Mr. Narasimhan said as many as eight lives could be saved by transplanting organs of a brain dead person, if the family members agree for it and urged officials of the Health Department to enhance awareness on the issue.
Effective manner
Referring to the Jeevan Daan scheme, he said good result was possible only if the programme was implemented in a transparent and effective manner.
Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, MLA Gadde Ramamohan Rao, University Vice-Chancellor T. Ravi Raju and Director V. Krishnamurthy, DGP J.V. Ramudu, Chief Secretaries N. Ramesh Kumar and L.V. Subramanyam, Collector Babu A, Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandyan and a host of others were present.
