There will be no water crisis this summer: Ballari Mayor

January 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - BALLARI:

M. Ramesh, Ballari Mayor, has said that there will not be a drinking water crisis in the city in this summer. He told presspersons here on Saturday that the Congress-controlled Ballari City Corporation had to make relentless efforts to streamline drinking water distribution, which was erratic. “We have initiated steps to replace old and obsolete pipelines whereever necessary, disconnected unauthorised connections and ensured that overhead tanks in the city limits are filled. The bund of Allipur reservoir, which had shrunk, has been repaired and a ring bund is also erected as a precautionary measure. We can promise water supply once in six days in summer,” Mr. Ramesh said.

Drinking water supply was erratic in the city as it was once in eight to 10 days. Mr. Ramesh said that the work on internal roads, which were pending for long due to procedure wrangles, was being speeded up.
