Communal outfits have taken advantage of the ignorance of the common public of Tiruchengode to launch an unethical tirade against progressive writer Perumal Murugan to silence him for ever, said Ponneelan, noted writer and Sahitya Akademi awardee.

He said that saffron organisations have been trying for a long to gain entry into Tamil Nadu.
He called upon the democratic and progressive forces to join hands to show the doors to communal elements.
Poet Mathurabarathi, district president, TNPWAA, presided. L. Vincent of the TNPWAA, Boomibalan, district secretary of the Tamil Nadu Kalai Ilakkiya Perumandram, Niraimathi, district secrtary of the TNPWAA and others spoke expressing their solidarity with Perumal Murugan and urging him to resume writing.
