January 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - KAKINADA:

Calling upon the drivers of the APSRTC to be more conscious while discharging their duties, Deputy Transport Commissioner A. Mohan, Deputy Superintendent of Police (traffic) Satyanarayana and Deputy Commissioner of Labour Krishna Reddy on Sunday expressed concern over the increase in fatal accidents in the East Godavari region in the last one year.

Addressing the valedictory of the Road Safety Week celebrations here, they wanted the drivers to shun negligence and more responsible towards their job. Admitting that other factors such as violation of road rules by the all other road users too were contributing to the accidents, the officials said that the drivers were suffering a lot due to the accident cases. Regional Manager of the APSRTC R.V.S Nageswara Rao, deputy Chief Traffic Manager N.V.R. Vara Prasad, Kakinada depot manager T.V.S. Sudhakar and others were present. The drivers who had the record of zero accidents were felicitated on the occasion.
