2 SPs among six to get police medal

Six police personnel including two SPs – Vinay Kumar and Binod Kumar – have been selected for police medal for gallantry on the eve of Republic Day.

PATNA: Six police personnel including two SPs – Vinay Kumar and Binod Kumar – have been selected for police medal for gallantry on the eve of Republic Day.
Vinay has got the award for doing exemplary work in containing cross border terrorism while Binod, an Assam cadre officer, has been awarded the medal for carrying out operation against a gang of criminals when he was SP Nawada. Binod has already joined his parent cadre.
Others who have been named for the award are SIs Ranjan Kumar, Dilip Kumar and Ravi Kumar besides ASI Sumeshwar Lakra.

Patna based CBI joint director Amrendra Kumar Singh (a Sikkim cadre IPS officer), and assistant director (IB) Ajit Kumar Pandey have got President’s police medal for distinguished services.
Only one person from Bihar, SI Abdul Sattar Saif, has got the President’s police medal for distinguished services. He is posted at the office of ADG (HQ).
Thirteen other police personnel got police medal for meritorious services. They are DIG Ajitabh Kumar, DIG K S Anupam (currently on deputation in Hyderabad), her husband Amrit Raj (on deputation with central detective training school, Hyderabad), SP (CID) Mithoo Prasad, commandant, BMP-14, Birendra Narayan Jha, superintendent, railway police (Katihar) Jitendra Mishra and SP (special branch) Rajiv Ranjan.
Others are sergeant major (Jamui) Uday Kumar Singh, SI (in IG Patna office), steno SI Anil Kumar Verma, probationer SI (special task force) Amrendra Kumar, havildar in BMP-14 Rajnandan Rai and havildar Purushottam Ram.
