Jaypee Punjab Warriors skipper Jamie Dwyer led from the front as his team beat Kalinga Lancers 4-2 in the Hero Hockey India League here on Sunday.

Down 1-0 in the first quarter, Warriors came back strongly to put pressure on Lancers from thereon.

Just four minutes before half-time, Dwyer scored the equaliser off his team’s second penalty-corner. Dwyer was in action again scoring with a reverse flick in the 28th minute.

In the third quarter, Warriors quickly made amends for failing to capitalise on a third penalty-corner, with ace drag-flicker Sandeep Singh earning his first goal in the 38th minute from the fourth.

In the final quarter, Warriors pumped in yet another goal, with forward Dharamvir Singh scoring in the 49th minute.

Deceptive start Lancers had taken its early lead through forward Lalit Upadhyay, whose reverse flick was too good for Warriors’ Dutch goalkeeper Jaap Stockmann.

Lancers’ second goal came in the last quarter through penalty-corner specialist Gurjinder Singh.
