After targeting BJP leader Jagdish Mukhi via posters, the AAP on Saturday launched a fresh attack on BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi through posters asking how the chief minister of Delhi should be — like “honest” Kejriwal or “opportunist” Bedi. The new posters have been plastered on auto-rickshaws across the city.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had earlier been served a legal notice by Mukhi, after AAP came out with posters of the two leaders and asked voters to choose between the two for the CM’s post.

When asked if the party was not indulging in “personal attacks” by calling Bedi an opportunist, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “This is not a personal attack. The term opportunist is political in nature. We are not calling her an anarchist, a Naxalite or a bhagoda — terms which have been used for Arvind Kejriwal.”

“Kiran Bedi said her party wants to bring an end to the Arvind Kejriwal brand of politics. However, she had earlier attacked the Congress and the BJP saying when she said that one should not vote for these parties as they do not want to come under the ambit of RTI (on political funding),” Singh said.

According to sources in the AAP, the party was merely responding to a BJP query if the AAP would put up posters featuring Bedi.

Festive offer

The AAP is expected to launch similar campaigns on social media, radio and during their door-to-door campaigning, questioning Bedi’s decision to join the BJP and asking voters if it was not a opportunistic move on her part.
